Our client is a leader in their field, they have 50 years combined experience and specialise in attachment solutions to the construction industry. They are a growing family business and have successfully developed the business on the values of integrity and quality.
They are looking to recruit a Hydraulic Plant Mechanic and Technician to overhaul, maintain and repair vehicles, plant and other equipment principally excavator attachments as necessary.
Full-time, salary between £28,000 - £32,000 depending on experience, plus excellent benefits
Key Responsibilities & Duties
- Checking technical guidelines, carry out the disassembly and assembly of hydraulic breakers according to correct procedures. Inspect and record condition of all parts and advise approximate feasibility of repair.
- Source appropriate parts and obtain costings including freight. Conduct repairs as required including the chuck bush extraction (pressing) and reinsertion (heat/freeze) processes.
- Install hydraulic auxiliary connections on excavators. Checking technical guidelines, calibrate the excavator auxiliary oil pressure and flow for the given attachment. Run diagnostic tests to discover functionality issues. Fit attachments to excavators.
- Inspect machines, engines, pumps, hydraulic cylinders to assess the necessary repairs.
- Perform thorough Preventative Planned Maintenance (PPM) including replenishing fluids, replacing filters and components on all plant, vehicles, machinery, equipment and systems to reduce downtime.
- Respond promptly to plant breakdowns and reactive maintenance.
- Prepare plant and attachments in readiness for hire
- Basic fabrication skills including small welding tasks.
- Updating system documentation on an ERP system.
- Ensure all H&S (Health and Safety) procedures are adhered to
Requirements:
- Trustworthy and Loyal and Honest
- Driven or self-motivated and Enthusiastic/eager and Hard-working
- Proven experience as a mechanic working on hydraulic breakers
- A good understanding of the impact hydraulic oil pressure and flow have on each other
- A good understanding of low voltage pilot power electrical systems on excavators
- Excellent knowledge of machinery and hydraulic, electrical and other systems and their components
- Ability to follow established procedures and practices and read instruction, blueprints etc.
- The ability to read hydraulic schematics
- A meticulous approach to work. Must have manual dexterity and great attention to detail.
- A problem-solving ability
- Very good physical strength and stamina
- HGV licence – not essential
